Student & Staff Sick Policy

At Jacobs Medical Academy, maintaining a safe, healthy, and sanitary learning environment is essential for both our students and staff. As a healthcare training institution, we uphold professional standards that prioritize the well-being of everyone within our facility.

Health & Attendance Enforcement

If a student or staff member arrives at the academy displaying visible signs of illness—such as coughing, sneezing, runny nose, or other noticeable symptoms—they will be asked to leave the premises immediately for the protection of others.

They will not be permitted to return until they are symptom-free and provide a doctor’s note clearing them to return to class or work. This ensures the safety of all students and staff and helps prevent the spread of illness within the academy.

Students

If you are experiencing any signs of illness—including but not limited to coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, fever, chills, body aches, congestion, or fatigue—please do not attend class or lab in person.

Attending while sick poses a risk of spreading germs and illness to peers and instructors, and jeopardizes the cleanliness of our labs and classrooms.

Students are expected to be mindful of others by practicing good hygiene, sanitizing work areas, and staying home when not feeling well.

If you need to miss a class due to illness, notify the school immediately. You will be excused and permitted to make up the missed day or session once you are symptom-free.

Staff & Instructors

All staff and instructors are equally required to follow the same health standards.

If an instructor or staff member is not feeling well or is showing any signs of illness, they must not report to the academy or attend in-person classes.

In such cases, the class session will be rescheduled or held through a live online (virtual) session to prevent disruption to student learning while maintaining everyone’s safety.

Cleanliness Commitment

Our academy continues to disinfect classroom and lab areas daily to ensure a sanitary environment. Everyone shares the responsibility of keeping the facility safe by following this policy.

By adhering to this policy, students and staff help protect one another and maintain the professional standards expected in healthcare education.
