Phlebotomy Technician
The Phlebotomy Technician Program at Jacobs Medical Academy provides comprehensive training designed to prepare students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to perform blood collection safely and professionally.
Students may choose between our 5-Day Accelerated In-Person Option, 8-Week Standard In-Person Option (Thursdays), or Online + Required Externship Option, allowing students to select the learning format and pace that best fits their schedule.
Students receive training in venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling and processing, infection control, patient identification, safety procedures, and professional patient communication. Hands-on training and successful blood collection requirements must be completed as part of the program.
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, eligible graduates may sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.
Career opportunities may include hospitals, physicians’ offices, laboratories, urgent care centers, blood donation centers, long-term care facilities, community health centers, and other healthcare settings.

Jacobs Medical Academy offers flexible Phlebotomy Technician training options designed to accommodate different schedules while providing classroom instruction and hands-on lab training.
Choose Your Training Option
5-Day Accelerated
Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Designed for students who want to complete their Phlebotomy Technician training in an accelerated format. Students attend class for five consecutive days and complete classroom instruction and hands-on lab training within one week.
Tuition must be paid in full by the first day of class. If you need a payment plan, you must select a class date that is at least 8 weeks away. Weekly and biweekly payment options are available, but the full balance must be paid before your first day of class.
8-Week Standard
Thursdays | 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Designed for students who prefer a longer learning period and would like the option of a tuition payment plan. Students attend class once per week for eight weeks, allowing additional time between classes to study, review course material, and prepare for the next class.
Online + Required Externship
Complete the coursework online and complete a required externship at an approved healthcare facility or laboratory.
Online students are responsible for securing an approved externship location and completing a minimum of 40 documented blood collections under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. All required externship documentation must be submitted and verified by Jacobs Medical Academy.
Tuition Payment Options
Students have the option to pay their remaining tuition balance in full on the first day of class or select one of our flexible tuition payment options.
$50 Registration Fee
A $50 non-refundable registration fee is required to complete the admissions and enrollment process.
The Admissions Fee is separate from program tuition and covers the application, admissions, and enrollment process.
Weekly Tuition Payment Plan
Students may divide their remaining tuition balance into weekly payments over a 8-week payment period.
Bi-weekly Tuition Payment Plan
Students may divide their remaining tuition balance into biweekly payments over a 4-week payment period.
Students may pay their remaining tuition balance early at any time.
When Tuition Payments Begin
Once your enrollment is complete, no additional enrollment deposit is required. Your first tuition payment is due on the Monday your class begins. Students enrolled in a tuition payment plan will begin their scheduled payments on this date.
Online Students: Your online student portal and coursework will open on the date your tuition payments begin. Portal access will not be released before the scheduled tuition payment start date.
Students who choose to pay their tuition in full may pay their remaining tuition balance early without penalty.
Tuition Balance Requirements
Students may complete their program while making scheduled tuition payments. However, the student’s tuition balance must be paid in full before the student is eligible to:

Additional Student Expenses
Program tuition covers tuition only. The following program-related expenses are not included in the $1,814 tuition amount.
Official JMA Scrub Uniform — $40
All students are required to purchase the official Jacobs Medical Academy scrub uniform through the school’s designated uniform provider to ensure a consistent, professional, and color-coordinated appearance.
The official JMA scrub uniform is required for classroom and hands-on lab training, externships, graduation, graduation photoshoots, student meetings held at the school, and other required on-campus activities. If you are attending in person 2 scrub sets are recommended.
NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) National Certification Exam — $134
The NHA National Certification Exam is not included in program tuition. Students who meet the applicable eligibility requirements and wish to sit for the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) examination are responsible for the exam fee.
NHA fees are established by NHA and are subject to change.
NHA Study Guide & Practice Test Additional Learning Materials — $89
Students have the option to purchase the official NHA Study Guide and Practice Test directly through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) for $89.
These preparation materials are optional and are not included in program tuition.
The NHA Study Guide and Practice Test are highly recommended as final preparation for the national certification exam and provide additional review and practice before testing.
NHA pricing is established by NHA and is subject to change.
Student Identification Badge
Each enrolled student receives one official Jacobs Medical Academy student identification badge at no additional charge.
Student identification badges must be worn and visible while on campus and during applicable school-related activities.
Students are not permitted on campus without their official JMA student identification badge. Students who arrive without their badge must leave campus or purchase a replacement badge before being permitted to remain on campus or participate in any scheduled activity.
Replacement Student Badge — $15
Certificate of Completion
Students who successfully complete all program requirements and satisfy their tuition obligation receive their original Jacobs Medical Academy Certificate of Completion at graduation.
Additional or Replacement Certificate of Completion — $25
A $25 replacement fee applies to additional or replacement Certificates of Completion requested after the original certificate has been issued.
National Certification
Jacobs Medical Academy’s Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students for the NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) National Certification Exam.
Successful completion of the Jacobs Medical Academy program does not automatically result in national certification. Students must meet applicable NHA eligibility requirements and successfully pass the NHA certification examination to earn the CPT credential.
Graduation
Eligible graduates are invited to participate in the Jacobs Medical Academy graduation ceremony and professional graduation photoshoot.
Students must successfully complete all applicable program requirements and have a zero tuition balance to receive their Certificate of Completion, participate in graduation and the graduation photoshoot, and be registered for the applicable NHA National Certification Exam.
