ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

Jacobs Medical Academy is not accredited, as accreditation is not required by the State of South Carolina for phlebotomy programs; however, we are partnered with the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), which is an NCCA-accredited national certification organization. The academy adheres to the highest industry standards to ensure students receive quality education and hands-on training. The phlebotomy program is designed to meet the eligibility requirements set by the NHA and to prepare students to successfully sit for the national certification examination. Upon passing the NHA exam, graduates become nationally certified and eligible for employment nationwide.

By law, there is no state or federal requirement that phlebotomy training be a specific number of weeks in order to become certified. This is precisely why Jacobs Medical Academy is approved by the State of South Carolina to offer an accelerated phlebotomy program. Prior to approval, the state reviews curriculum content, clock hours, instructional standards, and compliance requirements. Our program meets and satisfies all applicable state requirements.

Phlebotomy programs do not require institutional accreditation. This is standard nationwide and is not unique to Jacobs Medical Academy. What matters is eligibility for national certification. Our program is specifically designed to prepare students to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam. The NHA is accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which is the nationally recognized accrediting body for healthcare certification examinations. Upon passing the national exam, students earn national certification, which is what employers require.

Regarding program length, phlebotomy is a skills-based training program, not a degree program. Jacobs Medical Academy does not offer transferable academic credits. Most individuals who inquire about accreditation are doing so because they are seeking credits to transfer toward a college degree; however, phlebotomy is a workforce training certification designed for direct entry into the field rather than academic credit transfer. Our 5-day accelerated format covers the required material efficiently through focused instruction, hands-on lab skills, and competency-based training.
