Medical Billing & Coding
The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Program at Jacobs Medical Academy is designed to prepare students for a vital role in today’s healthcare system. This program provides in-depth training in medical terminology, anatomy, diagnostic and procedural coding (ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS), insurance claims processing, electronic health records, and compliance with HIPAA and industry regulations. Students will learn how to accurately assign medical codes, submit and track insurance claims, handle reimbursement procedures, and ensure healthcare providers receive proper payment for services rendered. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, detail, and the use of modern billing software. Upon successful completion, students will earn a Certificate of Completion from Jacobs Medical Academy and will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam. Career opportunities include hospitals, physician offices, urgent care centers, outpatient facilities, long-term care centers, and insurance companies.

High School Diploma or GED:
A High School Diploma or GED is not required to enroll into this program.
However, a High School Diploma or GED is required to sit for the NHA CBCS (Certified Billing & Coding Specialist) national certification exam.

Uniforms:
Jacobs Medical Academy provides 1 set of uniforms to all enrolled students as part of the program requirements. Students will receive their uniforms directly from the school prior to the first day of class.

NHA Exam
Eligible graduates (tuition paid in full + program passed + HS diploma/GED) receive 1 NHA CBCS exam covered by the school ($129 value).

Graduation Items
Upon successful completion of the program and a zero tuition balance, students will receive:
• A lab jacket
• A graduation cap
• A professional graduation photoshoot, which includes 2 edited photos at no additional fee
• A certificate of completion
All graduation items and photos are covered by the school.
