Medical Billing & Coding
The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Program at Jacobs Medical Academy is designed to prepare students for a vital role in today’s healthcare system. This program is offered in a 12-week program, 72-hour program provides in-depth training in medical terminology, anatomy, diagnostic and procedural coding (ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS), insurance claims processing, electronic health records, and compliance with HIPAA and industry regulations.
Students will learn how to accurately assign medical codes, submit and track insurance claims, handle reimbursement procedures, and help ensure healthcare providers receive proper payment for services rendered. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, attention to detail, and the use of modern billing and coding software.
Upon successful completion of the program, eligible graduates will be prepared to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification exam. Career opportunities may include hospitals, physicians’ offices, urgent care centers, outpatient facilities, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, and other healthcare settings.

National Certification Preparation
Jacobs Medical Academy’s Medical Billing & Coding Specialist Program provides training in medical billing, coding, insurance claims, reimbursement, healthcare documentation, and the skills needed to prepare for the applicable NHA national certification examination.
Program Format
Students complete program coursework and instructor-led training designed to prepare them for entry-level opportunities in medical billing and coding.
Tuition Payment Options
Students may choose to pay their remaining tuition balance in full on the first day of class or select one of our flexible tuition payment options.
We also accept WIOA payments.
When Tuition Payments Begin
Once your enrollment is complete, no additional enrollment deposit is required. Your first tuition payment is due on the Monday your class begins. Students enrolled in a tuition payment plan will begin their scheduled payments on this date.
For online students, access to the online student portal and coursework will open on the date tuition payments begin.
Additional Student Expenses
Program tuition covers tuition only. The following expenses are not included in the $3,162 program tuition.
Official JMA Scrub Uniform — $40
All students are required to purchase the official Jacobs Medical Academy scrub uniform through the school’s designated uniform provider to ensure a consistent, professional, and color-coordinated appearance.
The official JMA scrub uniform is required for applicable classes, school meetings, graduation, graduation photoshoots, and other required on-campus activities.
NHA Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) National Certification Exam — $134
The NHA National Certification Exam is not included in program tuition. Students who successfully complete the program and meet applicable NHA eligibility requirements are responsible for the $134 CBCS examination fee.
NHA fees are established by NHA and are subject to change.
NHA Study Guide & Practice Test — $89
Students have the option to purchase the official NHA Study Guide and Practice Test directly through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) for $89.
These preparation materials are optional and are not included in program tuition.
The NHA Study Guide and Practice Test are highly recommended as final preparation for the national certification exam and provide additional review and practice before testing.
NHA pricing is established by NHA and is subject to change.
Student Identification Badge
Each enrolled student receives one official Jacobs Medical Academy student identification badge at no additional charge.
Student identification badges must be worn and visible while on campus and during applicable school-related activities.
Students are not permitted on campus without their official JMA student identification badge. Students who arrive without their badge must leave campus or purchase a replacement badge before being permitted to remain on campus or participate in a scheduled activity.
Replacement Student Badge — $15
Certificate of Completion
Students who successfully complete all program requirements and satisfy their tuition obligation receive their original Jacobs Medical Academy Certificate of Completion at graduation.
Additional or Replacement Certificate of Completion — $25
